EAE - We make print happen

The further scope of the Retrofit aimed to increase the production safety and to modernise the machine. Avoidance of waste, reduction of required personnel, reduction of costs of maintenance and high throughput of print orders were to update the production in Halmstad to a modern standard. These are the services that EAE retrofit is best at.

The scope of the order included the migration of the old OS/2 to the windows based EAE-Baltic Star control consoles, an upgrade of the AVE to a PrintPP system, an upgrade of Mup to an Info system as well as a main drive Retrofit. The different modernisations of old PC hardware and network components are playing an important role to reduce the number of faults. Another milestone for a future oriented printing house was reached with the installation of a remote maintenance service PC with connection via a safe VPN connection.

On the whole, it was a very complex order. No wonder that the customer was slightly sceptical about the works, since they were also scheduled in the weeks starting with calendar week 32, which had a full production schedule. The instructions were that the measures should be completed during the ongoing printing operation without any significant production outsourcing.

But already during the first Retrofit tasks EAE was able to convince the customer that every task was performed with sure hands. The technical leader of operations in Halmstad, Mr Fredrik Sköld, was highly satisfied and made the following statement: "That worked out very well, everything top-notch!"The trust gained that way was the foundation for a very close cooperation, which in combination with the thorough product preparation lead to a fast project progress and short commissioning times. The commissioning of the machine was performed 2 weeks before the target date and from the three originally planned production outsources only one daily production had to be outsourced in the end.

Reduced costs of operation, higher printing quality, new products and faster production were the result of the Retrofit measures. That means: Lower costs – higher quality! The performed Retrofit provided the customer with a modern, future oriented control and has removed several legacy problems and troubles. The modernisation of the control with the smart EAE solutions finally offered a vision of the future. The V-TAB group now owns another plant with the current state of technology and therefore comes closer to global production planning and maintenance possibilities. Another remark by Mr Sköld: "This is exactly the system that we need here".
